Bingo Gardens - Paradise for smokers?

Bingo companies are seeking to introduce ‘Bingo Gardens’ to keep the smokers that are no longer allowed to smoke in Scottish bingo halls. Players will be given a hand held device enabling them to continue playing in the Bingo Garden. The bingo industry was found to be the biggest casualty of the ban on smoking in Scotland. Attendance declined dramatically, reducing prize money on the main bingo games. England will introduce a smoking ban on July 1st 2007 and it’s expected that the smoking ban will have a similar effect on the bingo community in England as has been witnessed in Scotland. The ban has caused around 28 bingo halls to close their doors to Bingo goers.
